Kelechi Ama-Kalu: Medical New Update

kelechi

You all remember the little girl Kelechi Amah-Kalu whom her father nearly killed by slashing her skull with a machete exposing part of her brain. She was brought here to the US by VOC in June 2007 to receive specialized medical treatment and to correct her grossly deformed skull.

We are happy to announce that Kelechi completed her treatment in April 2009. She is back in Nigeria integrating well with her peers and the society. The journey to help Kelechi has been a long and not an easy one; however, her new look testifies that all the wait, efforts, and resources committed into her remarkable transformation process were not wastes.

Our profound gratitude goes to you, our benefactors and friends who have donated generously to give this girl a beautiful appearance and a positive outlook on life. Our appreciation particularly goes to Dr. Marc Goldman, neurosurgeon and Dr. Vincent Naman, plastic surgeon who generously donated their expertise, resources, and work tirelessly to bring about this remarkable change on Kelechi.

May God in His abundance reward each one of you generously.

P.S.  Below are the before and after pictures of Kelechi Amah-Kalu

Medical Miracles in Columbus

Miracles are happening in Columbus, GA. St Francis Hospital and the four doctors, Leland McCluskey, Vincent Naman, Marc Goldman, Jackson Tidwell, who are involved in providing medical emergencies are performing miracles for our two kids that arrived here in USA. Support from friends, benefactors, and well-wishers around here have been tremendous. Though the kids are far from home, they feel at home because of the support and love that have surrounded them.

You all remember her, the Ten year old girl her father nearly extinguished from the face of the earth by cutting her head with a machete. Kelechi Mary Kanu arrived here in Columbus GA on June 14, 2007 and since then she had undergone series of tests for doctors to determine the best approach for her case. Voice of children is happy to announce that her first surgery took place on September 14, 2007. During this surgical procedure, Dr Goldman performed a VP shunt which will drain the fluid in Kelechi’s brain. This fluid has built up since her skull injury which is a result of the machete attack.

This is the first step of Kelechi gaining back her life and truly being a health ten year old girl. We hope that this surgery will be the beginning of her living a normal life. As God continues to work His miracles through Drs Goldman and Naman in Columbus, GA on this “Kute” little girl who defied all odds to be alive, we ask that you please continue to pray and support this girl in the best way that you can. Your generosity will ever remain indelible in the life of this girl and other children served by Our Ministry.

Furthermore, Kelechi Philip Ezediegwu, the teenager with 85% burn on his body has been receiving treatments from doctors Naman-the plastic surgeon who have been performing reconstructive surgeries on him, Leland McCluskey-the orthopedic surgeon along with occupational therapists at St Francis hospital. These dedicated persons have been working so hard to renew the life of this young man. A lot of work is being put on his fingers to get them strengthened and Dr. Tidwell, an oncology specialist has been providing radiation to prevent the keloids from growing back. If you see Philip now, you may not recognize him as his appearance has improved from receiving a lot of treatments.

Please thank God for Ebuka Gabriel Egbo who received the prosthetics from St. Francis Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Leland McCluskey after the necessary surgeries. He has since returned to Nigeria and is doing very well. We wish him the best of luck as he begins almost a new life. With Gabriel we thank all our benefactors and benefactresses for all their love, support and prayers.

As you have seen, it has been very busy here in Columbus with the kids. We continue to thank these doctors and St Francis hospital with Rob Grainger as CEO and the staffs for their dedication in helping these kids live a normal life. Truly, God has been using all of you to bring hope and life for these children. Voice will always be indebted to you.
To all our friends, benefactors, and well-wishers, we say “thanks so very much” for your generosity, support, prayers, and love towards all our children. For helping us bring practical love to the door steps of the most vulnerable we say “God bless you most abundantly. Please remember us in your budget and tell your friends about the transformation which Voice of Children is helping bring into reality in the lives of so many women and children. God bless you and may you all continue to be a blessing to all of humankind.
